One more beautiful sunrise in Nepal.

I could have stared at that view for days, but it was time to leave Annapurna Conservation Area.

No more than 2 people are  allowed to cross at the same time. The biggest danger are donkeys, they’ve been known to knock people off bridges

Part of Annapurna range, this mountain is called Fishtail in English, the elevation of its peak is 6.99km (23k feet). It is revered by the local population as particularly sacred to the god Shiva, and hence is off limits to climbing and therefore no one has ever set foot on the actual summit.

I went to see interview with Al Gore today at Ryerson University. Obviously he spoke a lot about the need to protect the environment.  This image of Bagmati River really sums up the state of environment in Kathmandu, the water is undrinkable, the air is practically unbreathable, and the dirt/dust is everywhere. In North America and Europe, we are so fortunate to have the environment where we are able to take deep breath in the street and drink tap water.

While at Kopan, I had the privilege of attending teaching of Lama Zopa, who is one of the founders of the monastery.

This building is main Gompa at Kopan. Gompa is combination of meditation hall and living quarters for monks.

Stupa is a place of meditation and also memorial to people that passed away. This one is dedicated to Geshe Lama Konchog, modern day yogi that lived at Kopan monastery. The search for Geshe’s reincarnation is documented in movie called Unmistaken Child.
